Finally finished up one of the pieces I was making for the SAHR. Who knows when the other will get finished, but at least this one is done.
A year long project, like a round robin, only it doesn't travel and you do the work yourself...

Round 8: Annette

I've had this photo sitting on my desktop for ages, but I've been a bit bad about keeping up to date with this round robin - my apologies. I see that I'm not the only one, though!
Anyway, this is Annette's round 8 - the first embroidery round... I'm back-dating it a little so it falls before the new round which, I know, I should have posted yesterday, not today. Is anyone ready for it anyway?

I've been enjoying seeing what everyone else has been adding to the blocks for round 8 ... they're all looking great!
Back when I added the heart fabric piece I kept 2 hearts to do 'something' with later ... and now later has arrived I have blanket stitched them on.

For the blue I made a little 1/2" hexie flower and stitched it on.

Happy Embelishing :o)

Gene Rounds 6-8
I had lost my SAHR back in November/December. Today I finally found them and caught them up to date.
Whew!
Whew!
I only added a tiny bit of embroidery on this. There are two -one on the dark purple on the left of this picture and one in the middle circle.
I am sure you can see the Star I appliquéd on this one.
R8- Janet's other
This is truly the experimental quilt, since I have chopped up an earlier piece to make it. That has greatly limited my design opportunities. I love the colors, but the thing has lacked any kind of focus. For round 8, I appliquéd a flamingo from the little bit of left over print material. I think it helps to tie some of the other pieces together. Unlike my other SAHR, this one had no preconceived ideas so I'm just winging it. This step made me like it better, though. I am having fun with these. Thanks Kate.
R8- Janet's Prairie
For Round 8, I appliquéd the wheat stalk. I've known I wanted this element since almost the beginning. I didn't want to do too much, since we have several rounds left, but the shape is established.. I will do more with it, at least in the quilting if not before. It's a good thing that I have to wait, because it gives me time to really think and analyze each step. I'm loving this SAHR. Thanks Kate.

I appliqued a Snowman TeaPot as my round 8 embellishment. I didn't want to do too much as Kate has suggested there will be more LaTeR.
But I like the way it's coming together now.
Hope everyone is enjoying this sahr and a big THaNkS to Kate for organising.

Just a little figure - someone to climb the hill to the house! (and to remind me of the 30 figures that I'm going to sew on a school wall hanging later!).

Round 8!
Sorry, forgot to post this yesterday, what with one thing and another...
This month's step is quite simple (or it could be complex if you want it to be) -
Applique and/or embroider something on your top.
This can be as simple or as elaborate as you like, though be warned, there will be some similar steps in future months, so you may not want to do too much this month!
