R4: Annette

Here's the latest addition from Annette - she's blogged about it over here.

R4: Cherie

Easy, peasy...just a plain strip this time but this leaves room for some appliqued circles or something later :)

R4: Narelle

Finally found or made the time today to add round 4 to my blocks. I'm adding a little bit of red to this one and might just applique a couple of those hearts to the bottom right corner.

Looking forward to November's addition ... wonder where it will go.

R4: Amo

Amo has done her round 4 now, though according to her blog, she's not entirely happy with it. Me, I like it!

R4: Julie

Here's the lastest addition from Julie, about which she says: "Here's the next part of my RR. I decided to continue with the orange and blue theme and used a slightly curved line to join the pieces in this new strip to balance the curved piecing elsewhere. " I do love the colours in this one!

R1, R2, R3 & R4: Winter Star

A late arrival to the round robin - Winter Star is going to play along. Here's her starting square above, followed by her round 2 addition:

then round three:

And finally (for the moment) round 4.

Getting closer to round 5, ladies (& gent) - is everyone ready?

R4: Plum

I tried another way to play with this block - almost surrounded squares..... I've left it oversized so that I can play with the joining angles to move a little bit away from the perfect 90 degree angles.

R4: Benta

In addition to adding a fourth round to her red, white and black piece, Benta has started two more robins - one in pink fabrics and one in blue. Wonder in what direction all these will go?

R4: Betsy

R4: Toni

I got my section done early this month - I have many other BOM projects I need to "catch" up on :)   I kept it simple again knowing I need applique/embroidery areas.

Posting to the blog

I am beginning to send out invites to those who want to post directly to the blog - you should have one later tonight if you have contacted me already. When you post your round 4, can you please use the pre-established labels for your post - these are very obvious and straightforward - for round 4, you should label (tag) it "round 4" and "kate" (or whatever your own first name is). It would also help keep continuity if you used a similar title format to what I've been doing - R4: Kate. Or for more than 1 month at a time: R3 & R4: Kate. Be warned that I may go in and edit those things to keep them consistent!

R4: Sarah

And another early bird... I love Sarah's circles - they remind me a bit of something - oh yeah, my own circles in round 3, which I pinched from Kathy's round 2...

R4: Vero

I really like how this piece is coming along - just shows what you can do with some special fabrics...

Blog authors

Now that the Robin has its own blog rather than being run on my personal blog, I thought I'd offer those of our participants who would like to, the chance to be an author on this blog - which means, you can post your own updates straight to the blog without having to email me and say you've done it and then me post it.

Most of you have your own blogs and are comfortable blogging, so if you'd like to be an author (you wouldn't have admin priveledges - so you wouldn't be able to change design features or edit or delete posts other than your own - not that you'd want to) let me know by email to katelnorth at yahoo dot com and I will send you an invite (it has to be by email, because I have to send the invite to your email address).

If you don't feel comfortable blogging here, don't worry, I am happy to carry on posting for you - and I will still be adding everyone to the "pages" tabs myself anyway, just thought this might be a simpler way of managing some of the updates - especially in times where I am super busy and don't have a chance to post things straight away!

R4: Janet

Janet wins the October race (I don't count, though this month I didn't work in advance, even though I could have done) - here's her block and where she's blogged about it.

Another Robin: Kate

At the start of this project, I was toying with the idea of doing two robins in parallel but was so busy the idea kinda never went anywhere. However, this afternoon, after I finished off something else I was working on, I had a little more sewing time and decided to go ahead and start a second robin. I wanted to do something very different from the black and batik one, so I chose to work with my Japanese taupe fabrics. I started with a 6" variable star, and went on to:

a large rose, unpieced, for the second round, followed by:

A piano key type piece, separated from the other blocks by a one inch strip for the third round. For the current, fourth round, I decided to do another unpieced piece, again a larger rose, this time with a green background:

It's a lot straighter than it looks in this photo!

R4: Kate

So, today I had some more sewing time (yeah!) and did Round 4 of my Robin - I like the piece I've added, but on looking at it again, I think I'd prefer it on the right hand side, so I might take it off and sew it on the other side!

edited to say, I've moved it to the other side - don't you think it looks better? I do! Even unironed...

Round 4!

Yes, I know, it's hard to believe it's October already. But it is, and with it, another instruction on the Stay at Home Robin. October's task is to add a piece, 3x9", to the left hand side of your growing quilt. Or, obviously, it would be ok if you added it to the right hand side. Here's my virtual quilt with its new addition:

And here's a placement diagram to show how the sections you've made so far will fit into the finished whole:

As for my ACTUAL robin, I hope I will be able to work on it this weekend - though I have a ton of other stuff to do as well. Still, no birthdays, no major errands, no major housecleaning - if I didn't think it would be sure to jinx me, I'd say it was looking good for a high-sewing-content weekend!
